Description

2014 ROCKDELL (Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre)

Blend: 40% Shiraz, 30% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Tempranillo

Aroma: Lifted spice notes, ripe plum and liquid cherries.

Palate: This is a rich yet elegant flavoured wine. It has juicy ripe fruit accompanied with savoury spices, fruitcake, a dense mid-palate with fine textured tannins.

Winemaking Notes: Each of these varieties were hand harvested into 10g picking bins before being crushed and de stemmed into 1.2T open fermenters. During fermentation the wines were plunged as required. Our aim is to extract sufficient tannin to provide structure for ageing, but to retain finesse. Each of the parcels was left on skins post fermentation for 2 weeks before pressing. The wines were aged separately in 30% new oak for 18months prior to blending. This wine has had neither fining nor filtration.
