Vineyard
Wallington Wines is located in Wiradjuri country just 10 minutes from the historic town of Canowindra. After moving to Canowindra in 1990 Margaret and Anthony Wallington plated their first grapes in 1992. Throughout the 1990’s the vineyard continued it’s plantings with the latest vines, Grenache, Mouvedré, Petiti verdot and Viognier planted in 1999.
Our soils are sandy clay loams producing elegant medium bodied wines. Our vines run N/S on a Southerly aspect and elevation of 400m above sea level.
In 2006 and certified in 2008The vineyard was converted to Organic + Biodynamic practices. We believe that through these practices we get a more honest and intense expression of our site. We are committed to improving the land for future generations and creating a lasting legacy.
We encourage collaboration and love welcoming WOOFers to our team during the growing season and vintage period. If you are interested in WOOFing at Wallington contact us via email.
Winemaking
Our approach is simple… Less is more. We want to craft wines that are expressive of both time and place. We continue to work with Organic and Biodynamic principles in our winemaking. We work with a range of varieties and are constantly learning about their unique expression.
Additions of fining and sulfites are kept at a minimum and only light filtration prior to bottling.
